I agree with Mike612 when he suggests using a piece of prawn or shrimp or something similar to cycle the tank. There is no reason to use a live fish to do it. And chromis aren't ideal, because if it surives, they tend to be very territorial and make life difficult for your other livestock.

Second suggestion is to skip the anenome in general. Anenomes can be fairly challenging to keep and honestly, clowns aren't picky about what they host in. They'll actually host in lots of different types of corals. For example, this former clown from my tank hosted in a toadstool leather coral:

Anyway, good luck with your tank. Have patience and I'm sure it will turn out great!

Clowns will literally host in ANYTHING! I've had clowns host in some mushrooms, a powerhead, some live rock, etc... It's really funny to watch!

By the way, that's a beautiful picture Pete.

all right I finally got on a computer!!!! the tank is sooooo different. won't be able to post pics for a while. but my tank went through the whole diatom outbreak. and I think my cycle went by pretty fast because I got used sand from a reef that has been set up for like 10 years. right now all I have in the tank is 2 turbo snails 1 naasariouse snail 3 hermit crabs and 2 damels. the tank has no ammonia no nitrites and just a little bit of nitrates. will try to post soon. thanks every one for the input!
