The tank is a standard AGA 15 gallon - 24 inches long, 12 inches wide, 12 inches tall. It's my personal favorite size for a nano tank, and in fact I have two of them (only one is set up).

The sand portion will be fairly small, I want to say 1/5 of the bottom at the most.

The AGA 15g is also one of my favorite tanks, perfect footprint.

Yes, everything under 30 gallons is considered a nano, I believe.
