Hallo friends
I am off to a new start with my 180 lter tank which went from being a planted tank to a reef tank and now after being empty for a few month is redy to become a rivebank aquarium
Here is how the tank looks so far;
As you can see I used Back to Nature slim line backgrounds. I also used lots of rocks and some pebbles. The wood is re-used from my old scape.
I planted with Echinodorus rubra and Echinodorus harbii, aslo some Cryptocoryne sp. (not sure which this is)
I have to pumps;
1 x 1100 l/h
1 x 650 l/h
I know for sure I am to keep a small group of Garra flavatra but can't decide what sholaing specie to keep hm
The tank is 100x50x40 cm.
I first considered Puntius denisonii as my centre peace fish but the size of it makes me think twice (aparently 15cm).
I have found two tanks with P. denisonii which are the size of my tank 100cm long.
Here is one of them same size as mine;

I would like some torpedo shaped specie which likes moderate current and such scape.
Do you have any ideas? Thanks!

Another beautiful setup Dusko!
I think a small group of Denison's barbs would be OK for that size tank, but how about some Panchax Killifish? They share the same habitats as Garra flavatra so it could turn into a nice Myanmar biotope setup.
If you don't care much about biotope consistency, a group of Hemiodus gracilis might also be a nice option. _________________

Good man Marcos thanks for replying!
This tank is open and I feel my cats would enjoy having a few Killis as a snack so I will pass.
I like the Hemiodus gracilis option. My supplier actualy has those which is great (I did't have a clue).
Since they are the same price tag as the P. denisonii I feel going for the demasonii.
Do you think I could add one small group of each or is it an overkill?
I am happy with 5-6 demasonii and maybe some other smaller torpedo shaped specie like Inlecypris auropurpureus (now Devario) 10-15 maybe (?) .
OK, so far these are for sure;
5-6 Puntius denisonii
5-6 Garra flavatra
??? smaller shoaling specie (danios, rasboras, barbs) ??? (IDEAS)
About the Myanmar biotope I feel the plants are kind of closer to where you are at the moment than to Asia it is tempting to try a biotope aquarium, maybe some of my next 54 litres I might try.
Kind regards, Dusko _________________

I would say the tank is too small for Denisoni - they grow to around 5" SL and use all of a six foot tank.
Have you access to any of the smaller Barillius species? |

diademhill you are a party breaker I just thought I had my stocking list ready.
I just checked in my fish supplier's order list and they have not even one Barilius sp.
I like the Barilius bernatziki though.
So this puts even Hemiodus gracilis in question (16 cm).
I must ponder! _________________

OK, what about all Myanmar fish
5-6 Garra flavatra
15 Puntius padamya - Odessa Barb
10 Inlecypris auropurpureus (for the upper level)

That would fit better.
No chance of Puntius narayani? My favorite barb and one of the best algae eaters.
In photos they look like female odessas but the males get a mauve iridescence similar to male melon barbs, |

Nope! Just checked the order list and can't find it. Any way it would not suit my taste. Odessa males look so much more like my wifes curtains. They fit in perfectly
In a case I didn't mention;
I Jump-started this tank (and planted it) May 22 nd 2010. I introduced one sponge from my established tank and rinsed it into this new tank. _________________

Another great 'scape as always Dusko.
Question for you, how did you suspend those pieces of wood up there? _________________ Fishing in the Rivers of Light |
