Since you're getting excessive plant growth then there is no need for Co2. to help with your algae breakouts you might want to consider shortening your photo period.
If you look at your bulbs it should tell you T5NO or T5HO and the K rating. With HO 75w you get more intense lighting which might play into the the algae. I had crazy green water for the longest. I run 140w on my 55 and until I realized where my problems were (photo period and fluctuating DIY Co2 levels) I was doing 50% water changes weekly just to get rid of the water. So I dropped the DYI co2 and shortened the photo period and the green water went away. Some add UV Sterilizers to combat the green water but honestly WHY cover something up instead of fixing the problem.
From what I understand Excel will help not only add Carbon to a tank but also fight algae. I can't use Excel because 1. I have vals and I had heard it will melt it and 2. I run pressurized co2. Hope this helps your problem when it comes back. |

I have only seen him get nipped once which is once too many but tahts how it goes. not like it doesn't have enough places to hide _________________ In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends. - Martin |

| What type of wood is it? I noticed when I had my Mopi wood in my tank than mine wasnt crazy about it either. Once I got another type of wood he pretty much stays on it. When it isnt laying on the sand, which is normal. |
