Hi. I have 2 rachus a small one and a larger one. The larger ranchu I noticed that when he stays still he tilts a little forward towards the ground. When he is swimming he is fine. Thanks Mike _________________ (2 Fantails) Wiggles & Chaser (Ryukin) Firefox (Ranchu) Casper |

Ranchus, like many fancy goldfish, are prone to swimbladder problems. Check the water and see if it's eating regularly. If this doesn't affect its normal behaviour too much, it should be fine for now.
If it is a swimbladder problem I'd suggest that you google possible treatments asap...sorry I can't give advice here (The last fancy goldfish I kept was about 8 years ago)

It certainly looks like a swimbladder problem to me. Have a look at the water quality and make sure you feed a varied diet - flake foods traps lot of air along with it when swallowed, so this should be varied with other foods, especially greenfoods such as peas. This article may help you.

Allow it to adapt to new tank conditions then. Again keep an eye on it, and see if any problem arises. Otherwise it should be fine for now...really neat pair by the way

spinach sometimes works well too, the frozen blocks of it, and then just scrape some into the tank _________________ Let the current take you where you may not always want to go. |

I do give spinach also.
I make 3 different kinds of gel with different veggies and different fish.
He might need to adjust. _________________ (2 Fantails) Wiggles & Chaser (Ryukin) Firefox (Ranchu) Casper |
