We need a better picture of that tiger barb to identify it. I know they're fast, so it's hard to not get a blurry one of it. But...... if you sit there long enough, it will happen. Laughing

water parameters today with a liquid kit are as follows:
pH: 7.4
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 0ppm
Ammonia: 0ppm

I was praying for non-disasterous results, and I got them Smile

I went riverbank combing today (more difficult than I thought, I expected less ice) and found 3 rocks which I scrubbed and boiled and added to my tank, and I purchased some terra cotta pots and smashed a few and added the pieces to the tank to create those nice hiding spots. I'll let the plants mature a bit and then I'll try another bn pleco...

I don't know if this is what Diademhill is saying, but I don't know if your tank is cyled. A fully cycled tank should have at least 5-15 Nirite.

Wide view with the new digs.

Left side. (the albino red fin shark might be deciding this rock formation belongs to him now).

Right side.

Heres 2 good pics of the tiger barbs - and the one I suspect could possibly be a hybrid of green and normal tiger barb.

I did a 10 gallon water change yesterday, and a 10 gallon water change a week before.

Hm, would redo the nitrate test just to make sure it's actually 0 if you haven't already. Quite possible to have 0 nitrate in a moderately to heavily planted tank but yours is planted very lightly.

My test is for 0 ppm, and the next colour says 5ppm... so its possible there may be nitrate there, just under 5ppm ?? I will redo it tomorrow. I can take a picture if you guys think it will help

Lookin' good! I can't see to figure out why it is 0 nitrite though in my head.

Oh well, keep up the good work!

By the way, I am getting a test kit, and heater for my 55 gallon so I may be adding fish very soon =D

Retest the water in a couple of days.

The tiger barbs are all the same species and the inbetween one is just that - a poor example of the green variety. Not a hybrid.
