I was looking into the blue shrimp available here, and they're just like cherry shrimp, only blue. They line breed them to make them blue, the same way cherry shrimp were line bred to be red. Smile

Cool! I might do an order of them in the future if I get the fluval edge for xmas.

I would go for figuring out the planting first though, and then possibly do the substrate switch in this 55g, and then do a fish and shrimp order to do a bit of restocking.

Shipping in a small box is about 45 dollars from Vancouver airport to Prince George airport, so I need to make my order worth it...

You can also get yellow shrimp and snowball (white) shrimp, but the problem is that they can breed with each other and give weird things...I would want a wild cherry tank just because they seem more rare.

4 long finned bristlenose plecos arrived via Greyhound today Very Happy

2 are albino, one male one female
2 are silvertip females.

Male has proven to breed with the albino female and one of the other females. Acclimating now, should take a while. Vancouver's pH is about 6 and mine is about 8.

Here they are! minutes home from the 12 hour bus ride. The water was quite cold so they spent a long time floating in their bags. Water was a bit cloudy, as I put that new piece of wood in 2 hours earlier and replanted the water sprite around it.

Good pic of the 4 of them.

He's so ugly... that he's cute! How does that work? Very Happy Makes me want to land a male!

I have a female that looks very similar to the darker ones you have there! I'm very impressed with her algae cleaning abilities Wink

Are you aiming to have babies?

yes I aim for fry. there is a market here for them. not many people have giant tanks here. I will let them dry to raise the fry naturally in my 55g, but I have a 20g that I can use for a breeder tank if fry fail to thrive.

Solid point. And when it comes to actual men, one is usually more than enough! Laughing

And Katie! I wish you the best of luck with the fry! If there's a market for 'em, might as well go for it. Very Happy Bit of spare cash is always nice.

The long finned ones are very handsome, it makes me want one of the long finned. Sigh. They are really hard to find around here, at least where I've looked.
