okay I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place for this discussion but I need advice. iv'e got a fluval fx5 sump on my 500 liter tank but I want to put another one on but rather than run all those pipes in and out of my tank would I be able to run one pipe in to draw the water into the first pump then another directly into another fx5 filter (not purchased yet) then the out pipe sraight into the tank? I don't know if this will mess the pumps up on the filters.

Keep the two seperate.

You can add a sump before the two filters but they need seperate returns but if running two you can have a high intake and output through a spraybar to keep some of the pipework out of the tank.
