about a year ago I saw a 1 gallon betta tank and decied to get it along with the betta on the same day. After I had set up the tank with the bubbler I let the betta swim happily in his tank. after 5 weeks (surprised he lived that long?) I saw some algae in the tank (it was next to the window) so I went to walmart and ask the man there what can I put in my one gallon to make the algae go away? He of course said "get two of the CAE's and your tank will be algae free. After three days both of them died. After 5 months Henry the betta had died.

Now...whats the dumbest thing YOU have ever done?

I wouldn't call that dumb at all, rather misinformed. Wink

Dumb would be doing this when you know it is irresponsible and ethically wrong. [/b]

When I was 10, I set up my first tropical tank. The stocking included 3 neon tetras and 2 penguin tetras. 1 day lifespan. I didn't take up the hobby again until I was 12.

haha way to get back on the horse monstrosity! the dumbest thing I ever did is either let my dad clean a 1 gallon with a sponge. Or, it was stocking my 1 gallon with 2 silverdollar tetras an american clawed dwarf frog and a cory. Surprisingly, they all lived for quite some time.

whilst filling a bag with some water for fish transportation, I uncaringly let go of the bag (it was not being held up by any device) and SPLOOSH... I had about a litre of water all over my legs, socks, and mother in law's carpet. Lucky no fish were in the bag! Rolling Eyes

Probably not the dumbest thing I've done, but ever tried starting a syphon without actually putting the other end into a bucket?

once. with my old syphon that you just squeeze one end a few times to get it running. I can't find those around anymore though. mine came loose around the squeezer and was letting air in.

My grandparents have one of those. I think they got it from Petsmart.

okay. I actually have no idea where my local petsmart is anymore. it used to be about 15 minuets away in Germantown TN. in a little outlet market mall thing but it was in back and a Petco moved in up front so I think it went out of business. I do think there is a small mom and pop in that same area that has those customers who don't use anything else. I might try that out just to see what its like.
