no problems with the barrier, some of the gravel gets moved around so if you do use the weather proofer or something similer like I did, I'd recomend putting a bead of silicon on top of the weather proofer and sticking your substrate onto the top so you don't have the unnatural looking black poking out occasionally, but so far so good with the barriers

So any ideas on how to make it more "big cichlid" friendly?

59- I don't know if you were planning on using the weather proofer like I did but if so don't, I just spent the last hour taking it out and now I'm taking out the sand as it got all mixed up and looks horrible now.

I noticed there was a white web fungus growing on it and after I looked it up a little bit I still couldnt really ID it so I went into the tank to wipe it off and noticed how easily the barrier broke, after I got it out you could smell it rotting.....
So I'm sorry I didn't notice this sooner if you already got the stuff but I'd recomend acrilic as an alternative to this

My tank is a mess because of this stuff Confused

One way the I would use a a gravel barrier is getting 2 tube's of aquarium safe silicone and using a mold to form the silicone into a long 2in wall, then silicone the silicone to the glass. I don't know if it would work but it's a idea Idea

thats what I originaly thought of(after I figured shaping acrilic would be to hard) but discarded the idea after useing weather proofer as a good barrier(although it was my fault for going with the garage door one)

Lol havnt taken to many pics latly due to the sad shape all the plants and everything has been in but here are a few.
I had about a hundred hydra for awhile and here is the only semi-decent pic I could get

the mold/fungus growing on the barrier today

the tank earlier today(before I cleaned the sides and front
Embarassed ) still no background

and the tank after taking out the barriers Rolling Eyes

but atleast the glass is clean Crying or Very sad

well if you can see through the cloudiness a couple inchs on the last pic you can see that I am going to need to redo the entire tank, because there is almost no sand(I took as much as I could out because the majority of it got really mixed in with the gravel when I was messing with the barriers and I want to just cover it with the flourite and start over with something else.
