Your RTBS looks to be a juvenile, so he will grow some and will eventually need a bigger cave. I'd get some aquarium safe rocks and make a nice cave for him. It will add to the overall look of your tank, too, as it looks a bit bare at the moment. Very Happy

I have never properly kept RTBS... I only had them back in my fish-having days, so I do not know the proper size tank. Another member in your other thread stated that they need at least 50g minimum, so you should probably figure out if your tank is even going to be large enough for him, long term.

I've always heard that around 30 gallons is enough. I personally think it is, because he doesn't move around much.

A tank in the 50 gallons or above range is what an adult Red-Tailed Black Shark should have. This would be the time to consider an upgrade within the next year, or return the fish.

As mentioned in your other thread, he doesn't move around much because your tank is too bare for him. He will likely gain confidence as you add more decor to the tank.

I plan on getting a cave for him tommorrow. However, today he is moving around quite a bit, chasing the danios when they try to steal his wafers, although they're relentless, lol. I noticed that he moves around a lot more when he doesn't know I'm there. He hides when I watch closely, then I'll stand behind something and he'll circle the tank.

Just wondering, how much did you spend on your lighting? I have a 29 gallon and am wanting to change the lighting since the 48" shoplight is doesn't look pretty and is huge.

Perfect timing, Caton. I went to Petsmart today and bought a tall water sprite and some green mondo grass. When I got home I found out that the mondo grass is not aquatic, but I read online that it will grow out of the tank and be OK. I'll see. I'll try to post some photos, soon.
