If you can get 1 or 2 banana plants they would work great. That is if you like the lily pad look. Plus there a really unique plant.

That should give you a good idea on the roots. They look like a bunch of bananas hence the name. The largeish (the size of a full roll of tape, an inch or 3 across) round leaves will reach up to the surface of the water no matter the height and float at the surface. Picture the leaves of lily pads floating. That is how they look from the top. They are quite easy to grow and aren't very demanding. Once the put 2-3 new leaves out that reach the surface the original leaves will die off and all of the new ones will grow to the surface. That picture was taken just after I added the plant. I can take one tonight if you would like a better idea of how it grows out?

I will have to take a few tonight when I get home. I can take one of the base and one from the top to show you the leaves.
I had this plant in my tank when I was 6 and it lived. They are easy and hardy.
Oh, and when you get it plant it like in the picture. Do not fully bury it, Plant it like you would anubis.

new african butterfly pics Smile was in the middle of the tank and I took some pics... my water is still not very clear but is a lot better than previous days Smile

I forgot to asked you before... did you take a picture of your banana plant? my LFS told me today that next week maybe he can find me one or two:)
