in my sump I would like a large refuguim is there a problem with that. all the sumps I see have vary small or no refuguim at all. also will keeping heater in the same place as the protein skimmer pose a problem.
also this isnt to scale I gonna do my skimmer in A 15 GAL or a 20 GAl long tank
edit:nvm about the protein skimmer and the heater in the smale place. I just relooked at melves reef to see if I missed it and yes I did miss it lol.
edit:edit: those three lines in the white is my bubble trap
edit:edit:edit I really like this one too http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/sumps/l/sump_model_l.html _________________ WHY doesn't my flying fish fly? |

Sure, you can combine a refugium with your sump, click here and scroll down for an example illustration:

the norm is for the refugium to be in the center so that it gets the right amount of flow of fresh water. With it on the end, you might need to add some mechanical water movement into the refugium section.
On my sump, the largest section is a refugium (20g).
Make sure your intake area can fit a sock... no sump should be made without one! _________________ "Just don't look in my fish room honey... it's just better for all of us. " |

well, you art work needs some imagination to work with it, so the blue area saying "intake"... if it's a pipe, then you might want to redesign the sump so the in flows into a filter sock, then over to the liverock area.
Filter socks are fantastic for cleaning up debris in your salt water setups. _________________ "Just don't look in my fish room honey... it's just better for all of us. " |
