I've been having quite a bit of trouble quieting down my tank, but one problem has me stumped: I've got a a power compact light fixture, and the fans are quite loud. I've looked around and asked a couple of people, but haven't come up with a good fix. Does anyone have suggestions? here's a link to the light I have: http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~action~view~idProduct~CU01015~idCategory~FILTFIPCTS~category~36_Inch_Fixtures-Power_Compact-Light_Fixtures-Lighting-Saltwater_Aquarium_Supplies~vendor~.html

I know one thing a lot of higher end cpu's are nitrogen cooled, co2 cooled, and water cooled. I know the nitrogen cooled are the best, maby adapt one of these.

wait... please back up a second. I don't know what cpu means, and I'm guessing that those systems would be expensive. I'm just looking for advice on how to fix the fans, rather than replace them. Another thing is that I'm a complete failure in DIY, soooooo... yeah. I doubt I could adapt any of those systems onto my light anyway.

Might be obvious, but have you tried taking it apart, cleaning the dust off and giving it a little WD40?

Works with some of my computer parts and filters.

I personally own a mid range pc. I battle noise with large fans. My current pc has a 140mm and two 120mm fans. It's whisper quiet. I would personally venture into a larger fan adaptation. Those tiny fans create massive noise. If you have no idea where to start you could always ask a friend who is handy or your LFS(local fish store) for help. My friends always help me with the aid of a 6 pack and a large pizza.
