It's only day one. Things still seem to be going well, but only time will tell.

In the mean time, I'm happy to say that they are both swimming about with the other fish. They ate frozen mysis tonight. I just have to keep an eye on the Orange Firefish around them.

Any chance of some pictures, we don't get to see this fish every day, once settled in of course??

I was actually going to write up a profile about them for the site once I've learned enough about them (in 3 months or so). That way, everyone can see them and learn a few things about them.

I'll try to get pictures of them when I have a chance. I don't think it will be too hard since they are firefish and pretty much just hang out in one spot. The only difficult part will be getting a good picture of them. They're so beautiful that I want the picture represent them as much as possible.

I need an explanation please. The Helfrichi Firefish are getting along great with the Orange Firefish. They're always out swimming together, they never attack each other, and they even share a cave at night. For the first two weeks, the Helfrichi pair was inseparable. Suddenly, they decided that they don't like each other and it got to the point the the smaller Helfrichi, which I assumed is the female, only came out to eat, but it was immediately chased back into its cave by the bigger Helfrichi. I was considering removing the smaller Helfrichi and placing it in another tank since it was always hiding in my big tank; however, all of a sudden, the pair likes each other again. The male isn't chasing the female and the female is always out with him now. They've been getting along for the last week now.

Why the sudden change in the Helfrichi's personality? How did they go from loving each other to hating each other to loving each other again?

I think that my Helfrichis are going to spawn soon . I was watching them a few minutes ago. They've been staying very close together all day. Finally, I saw both of them go up close to each other and start wagging their tails and kind of vibrating, similar to the way that I've seen cardinals and clowns go at it. The male Helfrichi then went below the female and started kind of nudging her around her woohoo area. Then there was some more vibrating and then it stopped. I didn't see anything come out. It would be cool if they spawned though. It would be even cooler if I can actually raise them to a mature size.

Ahhh yes, the woohoo area... well that's great news and maybe a short video from you is in order here, not too many aquarists can say they have had the pleasure of seeing this in captivity. Very happy to hear of your success Mike...
