Hi,
I am a members of quite a few forums, and I notice that a certain amount have a fresh water section that has been divided into a few section like this.
Betas.
Rainbow Fish.
Tetras,
Corys.
Barbs. ect ect ect.
Now this is my thought. While we have a Fresh water section with a Fresh Water Basics. Why not add a few places in this section with various fish families for members to go to to ask their questions? That way we will eliminate the amount of post of the same thing in the same place. And I say the same post in the same place because I see quite a few people who post the same or similar things in the fresh water basics.
I would think it would be better to have it the way I suggested, in some points so that people with fish questions about Betas could go to the Beta section and ask their questions their.
What do other members think about this suggestion?
Please feel free to add to it.

This has been brought up a lot before on here, and I used to like the idea. But recently, I've grown to prefer the layout of this board since it's a lot simpler than having to go through all these clicks and turns and round-about methods to find where I want to go.
Not only that, but it would create a lot more work that isn't necessary for the staff team. I've been on other boards too, and questions still get repeated and put in wrong places even with the divided sections. _________________

honestly, its not necessary. theres not much point. now if we had enough posts every day that freshwater basics was consistently loaded into the next page with new posts, then maybe we could consider this. but if you're like me and you check every day, you will see that is not the case. if we did this we would wind up with 6 sub forums with 1 post a day each. having too many sub forums makes navigation and moderation more difficult than it needs to be, and at this point the further organization is neither necessary nor justifiable.
and yea, its been brought up dozens of times before. I know, I once read through the entire site issues archives. I was actually looking for topics involving banned or troublesome manners for cheap laughs, but I did find some useful things too. _________________ New to fishkeeping? Click the banner

Hi,
Thanks number 6.
your are quite right about the spelling. Thank you.
DF Bobo,
I use to be on here 5-7 hrs a day but now I am on here for only a few hrs ever few days it is harder to notice the post and their consistency with each-other.
You are quite right with saying there is no need to add a new sub-forums for fish species and questions on fish species like I suggested.
But I do think we could add at least on sub-forum for Betas. Because their is a lot of question on Betas.

we do now, but we don't always have so many. its not like we're always inundated with betta related questions. its fine the way it is. _________________ New to fishkeeping? Click the banner

Recently Marcos added an additional broad board section, Killifish. I don't think we really need a bettas section, but a Labyrinth would serve more purposes (bettas, gourami, ctenepoma) since there are plenty of those. I'm not advertising that idea though, I like the board as it is, unconfusing. _________________

Thanks Jacko for pointing that out to me.
You are more than right, a labyrinth section would be better.
Cheers,

| I've wondered about a labyrinth fish section myself in the past as there are a lot of questions about them... but, on the other hand, I do also think we should keep the board uncluttered - I've visited some where I'm scared to post because it's so hard to find the right section to post in. |
