My art teacher has a 55 gal fish tank in his room. All he has in it is a calico fantail, a black moor, and a pleco with no heater. I don't know what water he uses, probably tap, which is city water. Well anyway, it has this crispy flakey white stuff that is in clumps all around the outside of the tank where water has pooled or ran off the outside. I was wondering what was in the water that would make it do this? _________________ Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most. |

| Calcium. It can be removed through vinegar, but only on the OUTSIDE of the aquarium, it can't come in contact with the water. |

OK thanks, I will refer it to him. I don't think he knows what he is doing. The tank has about 3 inches of gravel on the bottom, and is completely green with stuff thats under it. It's really dirty. _________________ Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most. |
