What size tank is that? I was considering setting up a shell dweller tank, how do you like your cichlids?

thats a 29gallon, but many species can be kept in as small as a 10 gallon tank. I just choose this size because thats what I had already Smile. I love the cichlids, these are my first Africans that I've kept since I've been serious about the hobby. So far these guys have way more personality than any of my other fish save maybe my angels.

Beautiful set-up and fish!
Is it a bad idea to mix Shell dweller species? Just curious..

couple quick updates for the tank. The java fern roots look REALLY cool in this tank , so I figured id upload a picture of them. Also a picture of the male. Multi's are proving to be notoriously shy, everytime I move in my room they go dashing for the shells. One of them has taken up residence in the java ferns rather than at the bottom of the tank, kind of interesting. Not sure if it is a young male or a female, but it can usually be found near the surface in the ferns.

Added a few julies, however the shellies have been very unhappy with their new tankmates.

Woke up this morning to find that my Neo. multifacitus had spawned. I've noticed one or two fry poking their head out for just an instant before retreating to the shell. No pictures of the fry yet, but the male and female have started turning quite pink in breeding colors. Very exciting!.
