Here is one of my Serpae Tetras/Hyphessobrycon eques. I have five of them in my 20g and they range from this red to a deep maroon color. Definitely on of my favorite fish.

This is my redfin shark along with one of my male WCMM (a few ghost shrimps carrying eggs). They were searching for food under driftwood sitting on a rock. I took this with a basic digital camera, with no flash. It was quite hard to get a picture that wasn't blurred, but I figured I'd post it to see how it did. Very Happy

Submissions closed! We have 24 submissions for our first 2008 round! Let's move on to the 1 week voting phase. All board members can vote, but remember...to make a valid vote you must choose your 3 favorite candidates from the selection below and clearly list them in order of preference!

Although the selection criteria are ultimately personal, we hope that each voter will take into consideration the 3 basic elements of good photography:
adequacy to the proposed theme, attentive composition and technical quality.

We also encourage everyone to add comments justifying your choices, and including praises or constructive criticism to those that weren't chosen.

Participants cannot vote for their own photo, but are expected to vote and add comments for the "other" good photos! All in the name of friendship and fun!

1- #16. Barebackdreamer.
This is SUCH and awesome picture. Ever since I saw it in the betta thread, I couldn't find or take another picture to compare to this one. Just Awesome!

2- #19. shaun64326
I really like star fish, and although I don't have a saltwater tank of my own, I really like looking at other peoples, and this is one of my favorite pictures.

3- #08. Alex Kawazaki
This picture just makes me laugh, I really like it.

1) #6 gm333's saltwater shot. The mushrooms are beautiful, brilliantly red, but what really made it for me was that little peeking fish. Smile
2) #16 Bareback Dreamer's gorgeous betta. This is a classic, quintessential betta photograph.
3) #8 Alex K's cherry shrimp. What an amazing picture, as always. You always win these things, Alex! I don't want to keep voting for you but you force me to. Wink

Honorable Mentions
#3 Dusko's dwarf gourami. A beautiful, crisply focused shot. Maybe just not exotic enough to make my top 3?
#7 determinator. I love this photo! So much personality. It would have made my top 3 if it had been just a little brighter, and if you had rotated it just a few degrees clockwis.e
#19 shaun64326's starfish. A technically beautiful photo.

1.) #8 Love the shrimp. I've wanted some for so long and I'm planning a tank in the summer.
2.) #3 Lovely fish, nice and sharp, and just enough red to fit with the theme.
3.) #19 Beautiful starfish, nice crisp colors. Very clean. It makes me want one of my own!
