And I'm not sure why your declarative is an interrogative, but we live and learn. Wink

English is my first language and I actually majored in English in college. I still sometimes use the question mark the way Dusko did. Wink I realize it's not proper, Laughing but to me it's kind of like making a statement into a both declarative and an interrogative. It's like Dusko was acknowledging the fact that it didn't seem as if the original poster had a question; yet at the same time was asking the original poster whether or not he/she had a question.

I guess I'm a rule-breaker. Wink Wink

DF, I've been learning French for four or so years at school and I'm rank rotten at it. Only God knows how I am in the top set after all this time! Laughing

When I was growing up in Italy, the equivalent of junior high had a mandatory foreign language. (It still might, but I moved here to the US when I was 16 so I am out of touch.)
It was a random lottery for either English or French. You did not get to choose. Granted in most situations it was taught by an Italian teacher, so they weren't great classes, but they gave a pretty solid starting point and while the spoken portion was not ideal, the classes included a lot of reading and writing.

us yeropeeans lurn things goodly.
