of course this was when I was ten and thought that danios were live-bearers...hahahahaha Laughing Laughing Laughing Embarassed I now know about cycling, overstocking(AHEM AHEM), and weekly water changes. I thank keeno for inspiring me. Laughing Laughing I'm planning on getting a used ten gallon from one of my teachers at my school and since my school knows that I'm into fish( and basically everything else that crawls, slithers, and squats in the mud and wants to eat my eyes with jujubes haha) they gave me an ancient looks around 50 gallon aquarium! I didn't fill it up with water and it hasn't been cycled because I'm waiting to get some money so that I could buy plants and some new gravel and stress coat. I plan on stocking it with 8 marbled hatchets, a pleco, and a school of neons Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy and the tank has a lid thankfully. Very Happy Very Happy

Sometimes I forgot to put water conditioner but my fish never died, probably because I only do 20-50% water change.

Not finding you guys before I started this. Though, since it was orgiinally an impulse buy maybe that makes buying the fish in the first place my biggest mistake Sad . Since that fateful day however I have spent every spare moment of the last 2 weeks researching fish and plants and tanks, so hopefully I can make up for it!

I just had a good one a few weeks ago. While doing a water change on my 55 gallon community tank. I forgot that I was filling it up with water. Walked away, came back in 15 minutes to what sounded like a huge water fall....

Yeah, the rug was SOAKED!!

Thats when you shut off everything, I have it so if anything goes wrong with one of my tanks it only takes a flip of a switch to make it safe.

I was right there and the circuit breaker was on the other end of the house, with some careful draping I was able to keep it all dry long enough to get the mop.

another thing I have done was stand barefoot in a small puddle while doing maintenance and then pulled my hand right out of a tank and plugged in a filter, it was a little shocking Laughing

add some 50 micron filter cloth and that will clean it up overnight.
