You may remember me by posting some forum about the japanese ricefish few months ago about how to find them. Well I did found them through online order and I got 9 medaka fish, three are golden strain. However they recently spawned few days ago and I'm having trouble to get good eggs that's not attacked by fungus. So please help me!

If you are keeping the eggs in their own tank, you can add 1 tablespoon of peroxide to each gallon of water to help keep them from fungusing.

Oh good you found some! I talked to my LFS and they said they couldn't find any suppliers.

If you can seperate them into another tank or remove the parents turn on a air stone to increase movement over the eggs and I think there was one Blue med that prevented fungusing because it turns the water blue.

I've never kept them, but have a friend that does, and thats what he does. I also use it to keep corie eggs from getting fungus. You can buy hydrogen peroxide just about anywhere. Its usually kept where bandages are in any store. Cheap too.

The blue stuff is called methylene blue. Does the same thing except changes the color of the water and has been known to color the eggs as well.

OK thanks for tips, guys. You guys were great!

What color is your friend's medaka fish? My friend raising javanese medaka fish. There's not lots of people raising Oryzias species for no reason, probably get replaced by new exotic tropical fish species that we're see in aquarium hobby lately.

He raises the ones that are kind of a light gold in color, Don't remember which kind he said they were. In the summer months they are in tubs outside, then brings them in during the winter into his garage.

Wow he must be successful with breed the medaka. I just barely got them for 3 days and they already spawned I think there's some eggs left in plants, just can't find them. They are very easy to breed since I handled lots of livebearers but never egg layers before so the medaka is my first egglayer I ever breed with...maybe he can be my next source for obtaining some medaka from him, just not right now.
