| Would a coralife super skimmer for up to 65g, a rainbow lifegard FB-300 fluidized bed filter, 2 pounds of live rock, and 2 maxijet 600 powerheads be enough for a 50 gallon aquarium without a sump in terms of filtration. I would keep the bioload relativly low. |

2 lbs. of live rock is nowhere near sufficient IMO. I would aim for more like 50. _________________

fifty!!!! I'm not sure how much live rock I have in my nano... and live sand... if I put that in, some supplement live rock and about 35 pounds of base rock, what then? |

Way too small of a skimmer...it might handle a 20 gallon tank. You will need a lot more live rock, 1 lb per gallon is good. The fluidized bed is old technology...it will house plenty of bacterial but will also become a nutrient sink and just isn't needed. Good flow, good skimming and plenty of live rock is the basis for a healthy tank. _________________ Out on the road today...I saw a DeadHead sticker on a Cadillac...

It would be a better choice but about the max of what I would use a Remora on. I am running an Urchin on my 58 but it has almost no bioload and is powered by a mag 3. _________________ Out on the road today...I saw a DeadHead sticker on a Cadillac...

OK, thanks. it's even better because my mom doesn't wan't a fifty gallon fish tank in the living room. but I did find a 40 gallon breeder tank, ldit's very wide and long, and not that tall. so it (the remora) should be close to it's max capabilitys, but not over. thanks again! |
