|
|
Alright, since the community is still rising brilliantly to the challenges, we're diving even deeper into the realm of true "photography" themes! And this month we have TWO themepics!
Themepic by Wally Billingham
Themepic by Steve & Sharon
Light & Shadows
Best aquarium-related photos where light and/or shadows play a relevant role in the composition!
Reminders: Be creative and surprise us, but stick to the theme. You can and should make minor retouches to your image as long as it remains photo-realistic. The photo must be yours, but the photographed subject doesn't need to be.
Deadline for entries: April 23rd. (not the end of the month!)
Deadline for voting: April 30th.
Be sure to read the 2007 Monthly Photo Contest Rules carefully before posting your photo! By posting here you are automatically agreeing to them.
On with the contest...good luck! _________________

This photo is of an Otocinclus sitting on a Cryptocoryne leaf. I used a small scuba diving torch sitting on the top glass and pointing down towards the oto which made a cool effect. I turned all the other lights in the room off. I originally wanted to do a "sunburst" image, however it did not turn out as good as I liked. I'll try again later. The only editing I did was adjusting the brightness.
Camera Used: Canon G7
Mode: Program AE, Macro, Continuous AF, Black and White
ISO: 80
Shutter Speed: 1/5
Aperture: F3.5
Exposure Compensation: -2
Flash: Off
Image Stabilisation: Continuous |

My entry's an abstract:
My new LED lights on my reef tank reflect back like this in the water droplets that form on the inside of the glass lid. _________________ Am I obsessed? Wait a minute... don't answer that! |

I took this at the Atlantis Marine World Aquarium. This turtle is named "Jaws" he weighs 300lbs, and lives in the "Neptune Shark Tank". I liked the way the light looked in this photo, and how the turtle seemed to be emerging from the shadows.

Another oto entry (guess they like shadowy places?) The gunk on the round flowers is diatoms. The oto is taking a break from gorging.
P.S. If the image looks too washed out, will ya'll please pm me? Most every photo I take has to be brightened so I can see it but I get the distinct feeling it's my ancient crappy monitor b/c many photos on the forums are just blackness to me.
EDIT: My sister fixed a setting on my monitor that was off, and WOW what a difference! That photo was SO washed out... no one told me. I moved the brightness setting back to what it was before I fiddled with it and it looks like it is supposed to look again!
