While I was trying to take a nap today, I decided to take some pics of my tanks. Everyone seems to do it so I might as well, lol

This is my 20 gallon.

Fauna: 2 bullhead cats, 1 java loach, 1 oto. I'd put more in there, but those two catfish are massive bioloads.

It's very spartan compared to the other tank, but you try keeping plants and stuff in there with two very powerful fish. Sometime, I've got to get rid of those hideous plastic rocks. I think I'll put driftwood in their place.

Here's a shot of the cats together.

No fast moves...Skurk thinks you can't see him...

Now this is my 10 gallon, which I think looks a lot better.

Fauna: 2 red zebra danios, 2 cherry fire shrimp, 1 asian fan shrimp, 1 injured java loach, numerous ghost shrimp.

The floating plants are the only live ones. Someday I'll figure out how to keep live ones rooted.

No one else will stay still enough to be photographed, but I did manage to get this image of the Asian fan shrimp filter-feeding in the current made from the powerfilter. I love this little lady. She's so gentle and peaceful.

Yeah, that's why they're going back to their native waters soon. I caught them from Kaiser Lake and raised them from the time they were less than an inch long. They're very powerful animals, very instinctive and wild. Haven't hurt anyone in their tank, but they can swallow an algae wafer whole Shocked

Yep, they're all kinds of awesome. Keep in mind though that they will get BIG, bigger than your oscar, and possibly big enough to at least try to eat your amphiuma, though mine have killed neither the java loach nor the oto. Bullheads are powerful, tough, could probably survive in half a jug of beer, and will put up a huge fight if you try to remove them from the water. Also, like cichlids, you can't keep plants rooted, and they like to redecorate.

Is that your vampire shrimp in your avatar?????

If it's his, I might have to ask him where he got it, and where I can obtain one for my menagerie Wink

you should know that you should NEVER release an aquarium fish back into the wild, even if it is a native fish. after a long time, the fish will be used to regularly provided meals and such and may not be able to survive on it's own. also, the fish all have different temperature requirements.
