With the success of February's contest, for March we're going with another slightly more challenging theme, and including a "themepic" to help set the mood for the contest

It's Mine!
Best photos portraying an aquatic critter monitoring/guarding/defending something that it values: territory, cave, nest, partner, eggs, fry, algae wafer, you name it!
Reminders: Be creative and surprise us, but stick to the theme. You can and should make minor retouches to your image as long as it remains photo-realistic. The photo must be yours, but the photographed subject doesn't need to be.
Deadline for entries: March 28th. (not the end of the month!)
Deadline for voting: April 4th.
Be sure to read the 2007 Monthly Photo Contest Rules carefully before posting your photo! By posting here you are automatically agreeing to them.

My precious Red Flame Dwarf Gourami trying to get in on the tasty Algae Waffer, but my Pleco say's "Not gonna happen".

I have seen many a ghost shrimp attempt to hold their own against the fish for their piece of algae wafer. I cheer for the shrimp. anyways, this is an interesting theme, and here's my entry
a fire eel on the lookout for anybody who may try to steal his cave at the shedd aquarium in chicago

First I gotta say, this is an excellent theme. Who ever came up with gets two thumbs up.
Anyway my bday today w000t I'm 18 now. So I here's my entrant. This is my female convict guarding her eggs, and my male convict guarding the female. I call it.....
