Here's a few shots of a Red Cherry Shrimp feeding frenzy in one of my breeding tanks. They are feeding on micro-organisms from a well used piece of filter floss.

There are about 80 shrimp on that particular piece of floss.

They are awsome shrimp. I so wish we had them in Australia.

None of those are very colourful for my shrimp. Most of mine are juveniles and the others are mostly males or drab females. I'll have to post some pictures of my nicer looking females.

I read of an account of a person who had trouble feeding red cherry shrimp, so he took one of those real natural sponges, put them in his guppy tank for a week, then into his shrimp tank, and something very similar to this happened.

Guppy waste seems like the ideal food for shrimp, especially when you are dealing with fry. Most of the food I give to my guppy fry is egg-based, and I think it makes a bacteria when caught in the filter, that the shrimp really enjoy.

My shrimp don't usually have massive frenzies like this when I put in different tank sponges or floss, although if you look into my shrimp tanks, there are always a few sponges being cleaned in there for my other tanks.

Very interesting photos, thanks for sharing. Seems like they can't enough of that lovely floss. It's like feeding time at the zoo in there! Very Happy
