I was wondering what sorta cichlids would work in a 31G long tank..

I'm guessing this would be looking at dwarf and smaller ones..

I've tryed looking through the gallery but its a long list Embarassed

Kribensis usually work well.

Also rams. Check out their proflies in the gallery section and see if they meet your requirements.

Not sure about convicts, never kept them, but I have heard they can be aggresive, so they might need a bigger tank...

If at all possible get yourself some Nannacara anomala. They are the perfect dwarf cichlid and are awesome parents.

Apistogramma cacatoides, blue/bolivian rams, keyholes, kribs. I'd get a pair of blue and a pair of bolivian rams, or 1male/2female cacatoides.

hmm, another problem I face, is that I'm in new zealand, and our fish supplies are rather limited - but will have to do a bit of looking around.

I might go for the blue rams, and that way I can add others with them (and I've seen them stocked)
