I picked up a few of these fish tonight and was wondering if anyone knew if there was something that would make them happier?

I'm pretty sure most gobies are brackish-water fish...

that means that they need quite a bit of salt in their water (between FW and SW)

now, loaches absolutely WILL NOT tolerate ANY salt in their water...DO NOT PUT SALT IN!!

if I were you, I'd return the gobies...brackish fish's and loach's water requirements are completely opposite...they don't mix well..

they are pretty cool fish. I am sure they are much happier in a brackish tank. they can survive in a freshwater tank, but not for long though maybe 2-4 months.

If you decide to keep them (move them to a separate tank, of course), make sure that you use marine salt, not 'aquarium salt'. It contains additional minerals that brackish fish need. Also make sure you get a hydrometer and maintain the SG properly... brackish is about 1.01. Those gobies do not live out their total life span if they are kept in fresh water.
