I have timers on my 55. Lights turn on a 7 a.m and the turn off a 12:30 p.m. Then they go back on at 2:30 p.m and turn back off a 7 p.m. Keeps the algae away in the planted tanks. _________________

Timers are a convenience in any tank, but they're almost a necessity if you have a planted tank and your work/study hours are irregular. I have timers running on all my tanks right now. _________________

Have two timers for my 125 g tank. One for main lights, one for moon lights. Moon lights come on 1 hour before main light, off 1 hour after main lights, they are on again 1 hour before main lights are off, stay on for another hour.
This is to less the impact of sudden light changes to the fish.
I also used to have a timer for my air pump. Since I don't use it any more, I took it out.
Yeah, timers are necessity these days. _________________ 125 g discus tank 13 discus, 5 Sterbai cory, 3 clown loaches, 1 Albino BN pH 6.3 50% WC x2/wk
