I have young angels and rams together. Since they are young I feed them at least 2X a day(not Too much at each feeding) Usually the feedings are of a higher protein type food or frozen brine etc. Would it be beneficial to these fish if I gave them spirulina as their second feeding insgtead of the high protein?

Why not knock off 2 birds with one stone and buy Spirolina enhanced brine shrimp? 2 companies sell it now, just can't remember off hand who they are. Thats what I feed mine with - they love it and spirolina is supposed to bring out the blue colors...
(This frozen brine shrimp thats been fed spirolina - I think!)

The brine shrimp is very important as it contains certain amino acids which are quickly oxidized from normal flakes and granulates.

If you can't find the spirulina enhanced brineshrimp that Cathy suggested, maybe just feed them some spirulina with the brine shrimp.

Thanks for your input...............What I'm understanding is that the brine shrimp is VERY important for both tthe rams AND the angels.
Is it more important than the high protein flakes. I've only been feeding the frozen brine once a week. Should I up that to more often?
Is the spirulina good for their digestive systems as with my african cichlids?

As I understand it the thing with african cichlids is that they are mostly herbivores and therefor have very long digestive tracks which can be easily blocked if you don't feed them enough green food.

Angels and Rams are carnivores and their main diet item is crustaceans (shrimps) and for angels also tetras and other small fish. They need high protein diet, so I would maybe just increase the brineshrimp to 2 times a week.

Good luck with the fish
