|
|
I am going to be using a Fluval 305 and Fluval 405 on my 117 gln. tank. I don't know the proper/best way to place the intake and outflows? Do I place the intakes next to each other on one end of the tank and the outflows together on the other end? I don't want to blow my fish through the front glass! Do I put one outflow in the middle and one at the other end? _________________ 135 gln. freshwater tank

Put the intakes on the bottom of the tank- on opposite sides of the tank. Put the outflows on the top of the tank, on opposite ends also. This will ensure the best overall water flow possible. _________________

| I agree with ML. With the spray bars on each side of the top back wall spraying toward the front of the tank and the intakes on each end, you with create a sort of circular current and no dead spots. |

If you are worried about the current from Fluval outlets, buy the spray bars for the outlets. It should cover the whole length of the tank and be really nice water movements for the whole thing.
I have a 125 g tank with a 304 and 404, both have spray bars. I put the bars just a bit under the water surface, aiming the holes up towards the surface so I can see water movement. That way I don't need air stones. You can drill some additional holes to the spray bar too. _________________ 125 g discus tank 13 discus, 5 Sterbai cory, 3 clown loaches, 1 Albino BN pH 6.3 50% WC x2/wk
