hi-ya

I'm setting up a 10G to place a beta in - bought him today, and placed him in my 14G until the new tank is set up.

I was wondering if say 2 ram cichlids could be placed with the beta in the 10G, or would they be too aggressive or fin nippy?

thanks

~marco

They might have issues with the betta... also, though they are a smaller cichlid, they really like more space than a 10g. They are curious and like to explore. They also need to get away from each other and just can't do it in a 10.

From personal experience I can tell you that this will NOT work. I had a ten gallon tank with a pair of rams an a betta, plus some nice friendly Cherry Barbs. I planned to move the rams over to my new 55G. At first the betta was the boss. Then one day the rams decided they were the boss. Only a fortutious glance into the tank saved the betta from being eaten alive!!!

All the detalis are in the RAM ATTACK thread from over a year ago.

it had a happy ending, in case you are not that interested in seaching for that title. My daughter nursed the betta back to life and he lived another year in a 20G tank away from any other biting fish.

I suspect they would probably get along in a big tank like a 55G, where there's room to swim away.

sweet as, guess that settles it then.

always the plus side of asking first - save the pain of damaged fish, or wasted money
