Did you know that the shiny bags of algae discs they sell look and sound remarkably like the shiny bags of cat treats they sell? Every night when I go to feed the plec some discs from the shiny, crinkly bag I look down and I've got at least one cat watching me and if I walk past the others they are all staring at me, no doubt wondering why I'm feeding their treats to the fish. Then, of course, it's cat treat time.

You'd better be careful with those shiny bags of algae wafers...I once forgot and lift mine sitting out where the kitties could get to it and I couldn't find it the next day. Turns out that kitties like to eat algae wafers or at least mine do |

Oh, my cats do that too. And I have one cat (a Siamese, o' course) that is so obsessed with fish food flakes that he'll open the cabinet door and knock them down to get at them! _________________ Pretty as a pictus! |

My cat is crazy about fish food too... He especially seems to like the sinking cory wafers. It makes sense, though: normal fish food (not algae wafers though ) is usually about 50% protein, wheras cat food isn't near that protein rich. Why they like the algae wafers? We'll never know. Maybe cats aren't as carnivorous as we thought!

| Well, I have some crazy cats. I have one that will eat mashed sweet potato. Another will eat tortilla chips, peas, and almost anything else you put her way unless it's spicy. The third cat on the other hand is rather picky about what he will and won't eat. |

| My cat loves floating Koi food - whenever the outdoor pond fish are fed, the cat gets some too, right at the edge of the pond on a rock. He unkowingly draped his tail tip onto the water's surface one time; he came within centimeters of having the big white Koi (nickname 'Hoover') nibble it. I really, really wanted to see that. . . |

I'm sorry, this is horrible, but I just couldn't resist... does that make him a siamese algae eater?
My cats have never bothered my fish food other than smacking it to the floor, because they love to watch things fall off furniture, but the dogs are a different story. Fortunately half a bottle of betta pellets didn't affect anybody (not sure which dog did it), except the poor fish, who couldn't eat for a few days because the bottle was too mangled to get anything out of it. |
