I have that same problem with my platies. I have 2 female and 2 males and they haven bred yet. lol It doesn't boter my though, they can do what they want! lol

I found a big difference changing from plastic to live plants. Dwarf Rotala is one of my favourites. Fast, easy grower that is nice to look at. The small leaves offer good places for the fry to hide while still letting them explore, and you should find more survivors.
