I was reading on the topic of zebra danios and how they spawn and came across the following advice: "Float a mat of algae in your tank and the zebraz will jump on it and spawn right there and then. Then you can remove the mat, put it in a bucket with water and in a day or so you'll see the fry..."
What is it a 'mat of algae'? I have asked around and checked a couple stores but they had no idea either.

thats the craziest thing I've ever heard?!? I am sure zebra danios lay thier eggs in plants not on a mat above the water.

but I don't know where you would find a mat of algae...
maybe its like a grid that they have covered in algae...? kinda like those moss balls
