Hi there, my 29 gallon tank is stocked with 4 bronze corycats, 1 mickey mouse platy, 2 black tuxedo platies, and 2 dwarf flame gouramis. However, recently one of my black tux platies has been slightly aggressive towards the other black platy. I know for a fact they're both females, and the one (her name is Georgie) isn't just like that during feeding time. I'll catch her nipping the other's (Frida's) tail. Is it like platies to be slightly aggressive like this? Maybe it's normal... I honestly don't know.
Thanks a bunch! --Cork |

The only time I've seen a Platy be over aggressive is when they were stressed. Is your aquarium fully cycled? What are your water parameters? _________________ 10 Gallon Freshwater Planted

Yes, my tank's fully cycled. Ammonia and Nitrite levels at 0, nitrate at 10ppm. She seems to have settled down a bit more... haven't caught her nipping today. I was hanging a picture on the wall yesterday, though... maybe the hammering and noise? _________________ "color is the keyboard, the eyes are the hammer, the soul is the piano with the strings" - - wassily kandinsky |
