I was just thinking, would it be okay to cycle a tank with a betta? If they can survive in the little bowls that people keep them in would they be hardy enough for a tank? Also, if they survived would they be territorial after. Just thought of that and thought I'd ask.

No, don't cycle a tank with a Betta. The "exist" is bowls but do not last that long and the water in the bowls really should be changed every day. IMHO they should be kept in anything smaller than about 3 gallons. Mine is in a cycled 5 gallon standard tank.

This is in *my* opinion, others may agree or disagree and that's fine!

Happy new year!

Tom

don't cycle a tank with fish period.

do a fishless or silent cycle instead.

Yes, fishless cycling is the right way to go! If you don't HAVE to expose a fish to that kind of stress, then why do it?

I was planning to do a fishless cycle anyways. Just curious to see if it was possible.
