I was wondering who here is able to hand feed one or more of their fish, and how long they had the fish before they could do it. I have had my raphael cats for about 2 weeks now and the large one, Fairbanks, will already eat from my hand. I noticed he was following me around the room after I turned his light out, and After I sat infront of the tank to watch him he would either zom across the front pannel or just sit and stare at me. I decided to wash my hands and place them in his water, he then approached my hand and just lied as I stroked his back and felt his barbs, this was awesome. After petting him a while I decided to give him a bite to eat, he took it right from my hand and then just lied in my cuped hand. Today I was able to hand feed him again and his little companion whom I have had the same amount of time. I know people say you can't play with your fish you can only look at them, but this is wrong. I now love watching my little Fairbanks follow my finger across the glass, as well as feeding him from my hand.

When I was a kid I was at my LFS (my hangout spot of choice) and I found a tiny little baby molly in one of the tanks. I asked about it and they gave it to me for free!! I was ecstatic. I named her Angel, and put her in a small tank next to my bed. I fed her softened algae pellets at first and it wasn't more than a few days before she was taking them out of my hands. Mon dieu I loved that fish!!

Now I have a betta who doesn't eat out of my hands, but he does always swim over to where I am standing. He also BEGS! I'll be standing there and he'll come over and open his mouth at me. I take that as my cue to drop a pellet or a bloodworm in there.

One of my bettas will eat bloodworms from my fingers... not pellets though, he has to get too close for that.

My guppies will eat out of my hands also =)

When I worked at an LFS, I loved feeding the bumblebee gobies; they always came right up to my fingers and grabbed the bloodworms out of them! ^_^

My herd of convict fry will hand feed, but the larger ones are a bit more timid. Thankfully, they hurt when they miss and get a finger. My baby Texas will too.

Oddly, my Golden Wonder Killie will too, as long as I wave the food around. I wish it was more accurate, since it does pinch. It does not eat any food that is sitting still...

But then I can only feed them once! What will I do then? They'll starve. Sad

Only give 'em one finger at a time... and then get like... hand transplants when you run out. It's possible, I read about it somewhere a long time ago.
