|
|
| I have a 110g FOWLR going for a little two weeks now and I just noticed some crawlers on my live rock. Is this normal? I have tried researching this but I am getting no specific information. I currently have two of these little critters and they are a slightly transparent white color. They are small and round and came out of the rock. I knew that the rock grew bacteria and algae...but bugs? |

isn't life neat? The weirdest bug I've seen come out of live rock was this weird whirling crustacean that was faster than anything I've ever seen swim in the water!
Many hitchhikers can be found here:

there's countless more though... _________________ "Just don't look in my fish room honey... it's just better for all of us. " |

I have a question for you guys. Is it really necessary to clean off the live rock (after curing) to the point in which it is practically bear? I left mine in as is (with all the little creatures/hitch-hikers) and so far I've never had a problem. Come to think of it...once my tank was cycled (in two weeks time); I just left the rock in as is.
Of course...all I really keep in it is fish anyway. |

I like salt water algae, and I like misc. critters so I too left mine alone.. no pressure washing or anything... I'm not sorry a year later... _________________ "Just don't look in my fish room honey... it's just better for all of us. " |

Why would you even get live rock if you don't want all those fun things? Would be better to just to get some base rock and seed it with some coralline.
Though I must admit depending on what I planned on having I would go around and systematically kill anything that would be a nuisance,
