Hi All! Here is a picture of my 12g tank with 5 killifish - Fundulopanchax gardeneri nigerianus These guys are quick and hard to photograph - their colors are so beutiful but never really come accross as well on film as they do in life:
EDIT - I changed the vid clip to a better one (I.e. without the cat)!

Any idea what location these are? They all look like males. I'm surprised you aren't getting any serious fighting but I guess they settled that a while ago. I do suppose they occasionally get an ego boost off of each other which must be interesting for the cat to watch _________________ 46 gallon bowfront tank

Thanks, everyone!
I changed the video clip to one without the cat obstructing the view so check out! Yes, the cat just loves his kitty TV!
They are all male - I requested only males because I do not want to breed them. But, they do not fight at all, maybe it is the type of killis they are or they are just really happy... I have had a great experience with these guys and would definitley get more (if only I had the room *sigh*).
BTW - I got the tree an Petco online. I used rice paper from the art store for background - I just wanted something different for a change!
Blair - sorry to hear about your experience - what kind of killis were they?!
NoName - Is that a killi in your avatar? What is it? Pretty! |

Kingyo: That is a male Aphyosemion splendopleure. They are nice looking fish(as are pretty much all the killifish in the Chromaphyosemion group), I've had a little colony going for about a year now. Nice green, yellow, orange, and pinkish colors. I'm also raising gardneri('Misaje') and happen to be getting almost all male offspring so far.. Great for selling to LFS, not so great for breeding.
Blair: What species was it? It is almost impossible to make a generalization for killifish as a group as they are incredibly diverse. Some species will readily pick on other tankmates/fight and kill eachother, others are perfectly peaceful both amongst themselves and fellow tankmates.
Good luck with yours! _________________ 46 gallon bowfront tank

I'm not sure but it looked like the Amiets Killifish. Anyway, they got traded in for freeze dried daphinia! _________________
