|
|
As with any reef tank, stuff is always popping up that wasn't there before. I can usualy figure out what it is. But not this time. This thing showed up last night. It's on a back of a rock at the back of the tank so I don't know if this is the entire animal, an arm or what. Can anybody tell me what this is and if it's a good thing or a bad thing please? I figured it to be about 2-3" long.

Thanks so much,
Lisa |

looks like the arm of a bristlestar of some sort! thats my best guess. you could confirm this by goign after it next time you see an "arm" sticking out. mabe you could lure it out into the open. try checking the tank late at night I think they are nocturnal to some extent.

Someone emailed that they thought it was a Bristle worm. Seems they are correct. Whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, nobody seems to know
Thank you,

nope that aint a bristle worm, a briste star, as in a star fish
do a google image search and you will get a good idea of what they generally look like but there are many different species.

Your pic's don't seem to work.
Spelled: Brittle star. Good for the tank (unless very large), scavenger and detritus eater. _________________ Intelligence is not having all the answers; it's knowing how to think! |

Hey Slackra, I've gone to J&L's several times as you suggested a while ago. Nice tanks! They have kindly taken several hundred dollars off of my hands for me _________________ Intelligence is not having all the answers; it's knowing how to think! |
