thats a good idea... maybe I'll put the tank behind or underneath. maybe thats what I will do with that aquarium is put an overflow in it.

oh and on my DEEP SIX Hydrometer, it said that my specific gravity was about 1.022. from what I have read that'll do for fish and inverts. is that okay for em?

I still need some ideas of kinds of live rock I can put in the aquarium. I am still snoopin around for ideas. I need somethin easy.

I think I might as well keep this updated for another 4-5 weeks untill my fish arrive. (still deciding on what fish)

I'll try to post some pics of the tank when it starts to have a "ocean" feel.

next week I am getting my protien skimmer. Very Happy

thanks all Smile

yesterday I purchased a 2 pound piece of live rock at the pet store, and when I in the car, I took a peek Smile at the rock in the bag and noticed a small(penny sized) round green creature. in the bag it was pretty close up so it was difficult to see but in my aquarium it has really opened up. it has very small thin, brown lines going from the inside to the outside edges. what is this thing? my camera isn't good enough to get a good picture of something that small.

tomorrow I am going to buy some more live rock and look at protien skimmers.

Does it move around? Does it have a shell, or is it soft? Does it have tenticals? Eyes? There are so many hitchhikers that it could be that we need a better description of what you have to ID it.

its soft..... I don't see any tentacles..... from what I can see there is a small opening in the center but to me it doesn't seem like an eye.

whatever it is, shroom or no shroom, its doing very well. thanks to all.

today I bout another piece of live rock(1.5 pounds). I think in a couple of more weeks I should be able to try some fish, I'll most likely wait like 3 or 4 more weeks.

and that reminds me instead of having 3 starfish... I looked a second time and actually counted 4. the largest one really looks like a chocolate chip starfish.

when the tank loses water do I add just freshwater or do I add saltwater? does the salt stay in the tank when water evaporates?

thank ya

Def. top-off w? fresh water. This is something you're going to have to be right on top of, either by checking it a few time a day or by installing an automatic top off system. Vey crucial since it can lead to high swings in salinity, something that most inverts can't handle very well.

So your saying that all I need to add is freshwater? but when I do water changes I need to use saltwater?

also I purchased some more live rock(about 1.8 lbs). this rock didn't have any algae or anything on it. the pet store guy said that the algae would spread from the other rocks.

also on the tiny starfish the petstore guy said that I need to get rid of them because they are not good. they will eat what I don't want them too and they will kill the "good" stuff.

I think next week I am going to go buy some higher voltaged bulbs for the tank.

thank ya
