I just moved my daughter's goldfish from a 5 gallon tank (bad, I know) to a 10 gallon tank. In the 5 gallon tank I was using an air pump that came from a 1 gallon tank. Now that the fish is in the 10 gallon, do I need a larger pump?

(Background: When we bought the fish the guy at the pet store said that the fish would be fine in a 1 gallon tank. Once I saw her in that small of a tank, I realized that she needed a bigger one ASAP. That's how I ended up with that air pump).

I didn't fill the water to the top of the 10 gallon so that way when it comes in from the filter it splashes a bit creating some air bubbles. The fish doesn't seem to be in distress from lack of oxygen.

Any thoughts? Other than I need a bigger tank, LOL. I realize that I will have to upgrade again but I just don't have the cash right now for a bigger tank.

Thanks,
Kelly

Thanks Oscar!

I have a power filter. I wasn't aware that I didn't need an air pump with that. You learn something new everyday, I guess.

I think I'll leave things the way that they are though. The fish seems to be doing well, so why mess with it. She likes to swim into the bubbles & let them tickle her belly. (Silly fish!)

Thanks again!
Kelly
