Just got this guy yesterday. He seems to be surviving in his new home, no worse for wear. And as you can see from the pic, there is plenty of hair algae for him to munch on.

I believe that this fish is the Blenny spp. (Blenniidae) and they all are, as far as I know, carnivorous and will not eat algae. It is best to feed it with meaty foods. Research a bit more just in case.
Kind regards, Dusko.
EDIT; Correction-
The fish will eat algae and meaty foods. It is called Jewelled Rockskipper (Salarias fasciatus) _________________

Awesome picture and what an adorable fish! I'd love to see a full tank picture if you've got one! Congrats on being a new marine daddy. _________________ Barby Girl |

Sure thing Barby Girl:
First is my tank on day 28. I had just finished cycling and I had only recently installed my lighting. You can see how "dead" the rock looked:
This is tonight, on day 129. Unfortunately, the metal halide had already swtiched off for the night, so only the blue actinics were on (hence, the blue cast). You can see the algae I've got going on. It's not nearly as bad as it used to be, though. The hair algae on the rocks used to cover the entire top of the tank, right to the surface. I pulled most of it out and it hasn't grown back to the same lengths as before. I've also got some coraline slowly spreading on the rocks. Hopefully once I get some corals it will start looking a little more "reefy".

I love the way your rock is set up. Very similiar to how I'd like mine. Thanks for giving me a peek of your tank! Can't wait to see updates in the future. It was looking through reef tank pics on this site that inspired me to go reef instead of FO as I had originally thought when I decided to go SW. _________________ Barby Girl |
