I know Power Filters arn't often used in the SW hobby, but I have read a few threads where they are using Tetra Whisper Filters on they're main tanks. My question is. I've got an extra Tetra Whisper 60 and I would like to use it on my 15 gallon QT tank. Would this be OK??? My planed equipment is:
Heater/Thermometer
Tetra Whisper 60
SeaClone 100 Protein Skimmer. (I know it's a cheapo and have been told it's poopy, but it won't be used often.)
Thouroghly rinsed clay pot for shelter
10 or so lbs. of LR. _________________ If at first you don't succeed... skydiving is not for you.

I, personally would not use it for filtration, as your LR and protein skimmer can do that job. I would use it for a mini-refugium.
Basically, you remove the inserts and put a mesh screen where the impellor housing is, and at the output. Then you install a small clip-on light and you can add macro algae. The macro algae will consume the excess nitrogen, etc.
I can go into more depth if you want. I have made one of these myself, but my tank is not stocked yet, and it is not ready for the algaes, so I have not really tested it yet. Apparently it does work though.
