I have an empty 35 gal. I have kept freshwater fish for about 7 years and an considering trying a saltwater. How would I go about setting this tank up for a FO or FOWLR tank.

Hi Brillobee.

First, do some reading. There are many good books and articles to be found. This will give you a general idea of how S.W. systems work. Your question is very broad and could take hours to answer. Setting up a tank depends to a large degree on the type of livestock you wish to keep and what type of equipment you are willing to buy.
Here are two links.
The first is a simple 33G. tank and sump combo I have set up.
and the second is an article for the same tank, describing a regime for running a skimmerless system.

They may not be what you have in mind exactly, but the info is generally applicable to most systems.

Hope this helps,
Good luck.

Best thing to do is read, get as much information as possible before starting your tank. If you click on the link on the side marked books you can find a good list to choose from. Also there are a couple links that would be helpful to you.
