I would say less than 8. They will still grow and will eventually reach a size that too many will lack oxygen for the water

I have no experience with koi, but when I was in the planning stages of building my 2000 gallon (7500 L) pond, people only recommended two koi. They said that you should only have one for every 1000 gallons (3700 L)

Do they need to grow too 30-40cm, or are you introducing them at that size? The ponds a bit shallow for koi, it will affect their body shape.

well I was thinking about adding them from 30cm-40cm size, is this wrong and does it have a major affect on the koi and its life span also would it be better to get smaller ones.

cheers,

Then it will be OK.
If you add small koi, the chance of them all reach that size is unlikely.

So if you wise to keep koi of 30-40cm, it would be best to introduce them at that size.

How many you can keep depends on your filtration, but considering the wellbeing of the fish, I would not exceed

sorry guys don't have any pics but I plan on getting 3 or 4 30cm-40cm koi.
I made a diy pond filter out of a indutrial drum which was used to store food in. I had used a design on the internet and would filter about 6000l and I will add on a UV to help keep the water clean.
I think this will be enough but not quite sure as this is my first time with koi.

Is the DIY filter of "BEAD FILTER" or vortex-bio design?

Why not just get goldfish.. OR a bigger pond. You can only keep 1 koi in a pond that size. If you want to keep them at 30-40 cm, thats bad. They will get stunted, and have a shortened life span. Koi isnt a good idea..
