I have a new 200l (55G) aquarium with 5 fancy goldfish. I have installed an 2234 eheim caninster. Do you think this will give a good filtration or should I add an external aquaclear 50 (old 200).

That tank is very overstocked. I suggest you have a maximum of 3 goldies in there. I would also add the extra filter just to keep it extra clean.

I disagree. I have had 5 goldies in a 55g. That would be the max, routine water changes would have to be kept up on and adding the other filter would be a benefit. with goldies extra filtration is not a problem

Thanks guys. For the extra filtering do you think that aquaclear is a good choice? or should I consider Eheim Liberty or Whisper?

I personally like aquaclear- cheap, reliable, easy maintenence, do a good job and have yet to find a lfs that does not stock the inserts

I agree with Grapeape

I'm not so sure about them being cheap, but aquaclears do a god job and have a reasonably good flow for HOB filters.

Concerning stocking I have one question; Is this a 200L long or high tank?

Your stocking is at it's max as Grapeape has said, but still exsetable. Routine water changes will be of the ecesenc.

What type of goldies do you have mate?

I run my 35G tub unfiltered and unheated outdoors. The two comets are pretty happy swimming around the plants.
