How do you make a moonlight for your tank?

I'm getting a A Volitan Lionfish for my birthday, and I was wanting to make him a moonlight.

You can just buy some blue LEDs and wire them together, or you could buy a blue light unit from a pet store / LFS.

I know petco sells some blue light modules that are like spotlights. If you put them in the hood facing towards the reflector, the light spreads over the aquarium, looking like moonlight.

Don't ask me how to wire up the LEDs because I don't know how. Mabey somone else will be able to help you about the DIY way.

Search around the DIY section and you'll find a few topics on LED moonlights. Here's one that has a pretty straight forward schematic for how to connect them parallel.
